Orienteering

Talofa Lava Bloggers! On Tuesday May the 21st some year 5 and 6 students went to Orienteering Zones at Blockhouse Bay Reserve. Orienteering is when you have to try read a map and find pins that are spread out around the whole reserve. You are given a little paper with the map. On the paper there are numbers up to about 25 and when you get to the right pin you have to staple the paper on the right number. If you staple the wrong place you can staple where your name is and say you made a mistake and you stapled it on your name.

When we got there we all played on the playground until it was our turn to go. If you got stuck and you didn't know where to go there were people with bright yellow vests everywhere to help you there were also little clues at the bottom of the map to help you. The first year 5 boys team went first then the other and then it was both year 5 girls teams. After us the year 6 boys went then the year 6 girls. It was very fun and tiring we all got lost and did not know where to go a couple of times. There were some very kind people that would help you if you were stuck and they wished us good luck. We all did very well! Both year 5 boys and year 6 boys came 3rd altogether and one of the year 5 girls team also came 3rd! I really enjoyed it beacuse we all played and then at the end we all had a little water fight!

Blog you later! Hope you enjoyed!
